It doesn't matter how old I get or that I love my job. When I see that it's officially a "snow day" I still get that giddy feeling. We took the opportunity to play outside in the new snow and I happened to catch the PERFECT moment.
Bean had just done a slight face plant as I was getting ready to snap a photo. I caught her just as she was giving me the, "What the heck just happened and what are you going to do about it?" face.
Don't worry. She didn't cry at all, in fact she laughed. That's my kid.
Which is why I was so excited that my friend Kellene agreed to share her artwork with us:
"Hi everyone! My name is Kellene Elise and I write at This Lovely Little Day. I have always loved to paint and have always found watercolor washes to be beautiful. A while back I did a couple of state paintings to hang in my apartment and shortly after, Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast. I knew that there was no way I could make it out there to volunteer with the cleanup but I wanted to do something! And thus, The Lovely Little Day Shop was born.
When I posted the original paintings on my blog, people seemed very excited about them and so I started the State Pride Series so people could buy an original painting of any State they love. When someone purchases a painting from the State Pride Series half the proceeds are donated to the American Red Cross for disaster relief! I have always been passionate about helping others and it seemed like the perfect way to combine my two passions: painting and people.
In the next couple of weeks there will be a lot of new things showing up in the shop too! I am expanding the subject matter of my watercolor wash paintings and taking custom orders! Keep an eye out for initials, world maps, animals, quotes, and other fun things! If anyone is interested in custom orders I can always be contacted through my blog or at thislovelylittleday@gmail.com!
So excited about the shop! Wishing you all a lovely little day!"
Thanks so much Kellene!

Snow days are great as long as you get the day off of work. And Minnesota is fantabulous. I lived there for several years.

Thank you Kelsey! I love Kellene's stuff.
ReplyDeleteI bet that would be hard to get used to. I want green grass too!
ReplyDeleteI know, that's so funny how different it can be from state to state. We have to be pretty bad off for schools to close here. We're hardcore like that ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun one too! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the paintings and a great cause that it began from (having through Hurricane Sandy myself). And Bre, your Bean is just too cute for words!! :)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I would rather have warm temps than a snow day. Especially this late in the season.
ReplyDeleteOh those are beautiful! Love the color!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings! I love that my home state (NJ) is so prominent. And I hear you aout the snow, we're in the midst of a hefty storm in Massachusetts, just as the remnants of the big blizzard had almost melted :(
ReplyDeleteArgh, so frustrating isn't it? Luckily it's supposed to get up to 40 degrees this weekend. Time to whip out the shorts! lol
ReplyDeletehehe Thanks Janine :)
